Schools Renewal Program
In an attempt to improve under-performing schools throughout the city, Mayor Bill De Blasio, along with Chancellor Carmen Farina, introduced the Schools Renewal Program. The program is designed to help institutions that have been struggling, to improve their levels of achievement by extending the school day by an extra hour. Close to 100 schools will be impacted by this plan. Luckily, according to the plan, schools on Staten Island will not be impacted by this $150 million plan.
